This course is for LPNs, RNs, and Pharmacists who wishes to teach unlicensed personnel how to safely and properly administer medication in the State of Virginia.
This course is to prepare licensed healthcare professionals such as LPNs, RNs, and Pharmacists to teach the medication aide curriculum approved by the Virginia Board of Nursing for administration of medications to clients in assisted living facilities and jails. Licensed healthcare professionals will be prepared to teach curriculum approved by VCU Department of Gerontology for administration of medications to clients in group homes, residential facilities, jails etc. Upon completion of this course, the licensed healthcare will receive a Certificate of Completion and will be able to teach both 68- and 32-Hour Medication Aide Classes as required by the Virginia Board of Nursing and the facilities licensed by the Department of Social Services.
